Try to Use Remote Desktop in XP pro
Wednesday, July 23, 2008 | Labels: Information | |So this is my third.. Like the title above, i wanna share my experience with remote desktop, surely all thing going right way, but problem always come to me.. he he he.. I use my notebook and my PC.. my notebook as client and my PC as host..
i think all of you know how to configured this two machine for remote desktop, so i'll not talk about it, if you have some problem with that, just send me an email or you can find the tutor in google.
i just wanna to share how to solve the problem i have found.. so when the client want to connect to the host... the message like this appear "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction",
This behavior can occur if the account you are using to connect with has a null (blank) password. You cannot establish Remote Desktop connections when you are using an account with a null password (from microsoft support and help)..
You can disable blank password restrictions by using a policy. To locate and change this policy:
1. | Click Start, point to Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK to start the Group Policy Editor. |
2. | Open Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only. |
3. | Double-click Limit local account use of blank passwords to consol logon only. |
4. | Click Disabled, and then click OK. |
5. | Quit Group Policy Editor. |
or the simple solution is..... To work around this behavior so you can establish Remote Desktop connections, log on at the console of the computer, and then set a password for that user account so that it no longer has a null password.
This solution i found by google he he he, i think you can find it by your self too..
